Bhutan Luxury Tour
Day 01: BKK / Paro / Thimphu. Your
journey to Bhutan begins by flying on Druk Air, Bhutan’s National
airline to Paro Valley. The Flight from Delhi via Katmandu is one of
the most beautiful, If you are lucky, you will have a glorious view of
nine Higest mounation in the world, including Everest, the icon of the
Himalayan range. The remarkable and steep descent into the Paro valley
is an awe-inspiring beginning to an adventure of a lifetime. After visa
formalities and collection of baggage, you will meet representative from Journey to Discover Bhutan. Lunch at local restaurant . After lunch
drive to the Capital of Bhutan, Thimphu. Its 1 ½ hours leisurely drive.
Enroute you will view Tachogang monastery, “the temple of excellent
horse” built by Thangthong Gyalpo (Iron chain builder in Bhutan) before
reaching to Chunzom (confluence). At the confluence of Paro – Thimphu
River, stop for vehicle registration, you will see three forms of
Chortens in different styles i.e. Nepalese, Tibetan and Bhutanese. We
drive following the Thimphu River upwards passing through several

Day 02: Thimphu Halt This morning you will visit the following places of cultural interest. In
the morning you will visit the National Memorial Chorten with its
golden spines shining in the sun, its tinkling bells built in honour of
third King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The inside paintings and
statues provide a very rare insights into Buddhist Philosophy in all
its complexity of tantric Buddhism. This Chorten is centrally located
and you will see an endless procession of elderly people circling
around it.
Textiles Museum, co- founded by Mrs Bill Gates
featuring old Bhutanese Textiles and artifacts from the various regions
and tribes of Bhutan.
The Folk and Heritage Museum: lets you
experience the Bhutanese rural way of living through an exhibitions of
items and artifacts used in households. The principal exhibit is the
museum building itself which is a resorted three storey traditional
rammed mud and timber house.
The Arts and Craft Institute:
This is a vocational training institute, where traditional techniques
of drawing, paintings, calligraphy, embroidery, weaving, wood carving
and sculpturing are taught to students with the objective of preserving
the rich and pristine heritage.
The Indigenous Hospital: The
hospital manufactures traditional medicines from various raw materials
collected from varying altitudes within the country. Afternoon we
will drive to Sangjay Gang to have a “Birds Eye View” of Thimphu valley
and en-route visit the mini zoo to see the National Animal “Takin”, we
drive to Sangjay Gang to have a “Birds Eye View” of Thimphu valley and
en-route visit the zoo to see the National Animal “Takin”, and then we
will visit the Drubthob Gompa Nunnery: Nuns with sport short hair, who
play a vital role in the religious affairs of the local communities.
Then drive onto Tashicho Dzong, the main secretariat which houses the
summer residence of the central monk body and main seat of government.
Its majestic architecture in finely balanced proportions is
complemented by artistic decorations and paintings. Overnight Taj After Lunch : Hike to Tango and Cheri Monastery. Overnight: TAJ
Day 03: Thimphu - Gangtey Drive
to Gangtey over the Dochu La (3050 m) is one of the most beautiful
drive in Bhutan. On a clear day you will be able to see a spectacular
view of the Eastern Himalayas from this pass. The pass is also dotted
by many colorful prayer flags and 108 chortens. We will have light
refreshment at the Dochula cafeteria. Thereafter we descend through the
forest of rhododendrons and magnolia. After several stops on the way,
you pass the village of Lumitsawa; Thinleygang and reach the fertile
valley of Lobesa. Enroute you will have a view Chimi Lhakhang, the
“Temple of Fertility,” built in 15th century by Lama Drukpa Kuenley
also popularly known as “Devine Mad Man.”Drive. Their after enrote
WangdiPhodrang valley where we will visit Wangdiphodrang Dzong built in
1638. Legend relates that as the people were searching for the site of
the Dzong; four ravens were seen flying away in four directions. This
was considered an auspicious sign, representing the spread of religion
to the four points of the compass. The Dzong is situated at the
confluence of Mo Chu and Dang Chu rivers. Thereafter you will drive
through the tropical vegetation to Nobding. Throughout your trip you
will come across the beautiful sceneries of rural Bhutan, with
scattered settlements far from the road. After about an hour drive from
Nobding and before reaching Phele La pass (11000ft), we will retrace
our steps and follow a road that heads to Phojikha valley over Tashi La
Pass. After about an hour drive we will arrive at our Guesthouse.
Phojikha valley is an open wide valley, where Gantey Gompa is ideally
located on a hill over looking the valley. It is also the winter
habitat for the Black necked cranes migrating from Tibet and you will
see no electric cables built in this valley for protecting the cranes.
You will have the opportunity to see carpet factory located close to
your guesthouse. Evening leisure at AMAN Resort.
Day 04: Gangtey –Punakha-Thimphu This
morning you will visit the Gantey Gompa, Its one of the biggest
Nynimaps Monastery in western Bhutan. Their after drive for a lunch at
Wangdue. After lunch drive to visit Punakha Dzong, which is one of the
most architecturally impressive Dzong in the country. It is ideally
located between two rivers Pho Chu “Male River” and Mo Chu “Female
River”. It was built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngwang Namgyel and it has
served as the seats of the Government till 1953. The construction of
the Dzong was foretold by Guru Rimpoche, who predicted “a person named
Namgyel will arrive at a hill that looks like an elephant”. At the time
there was a smaller Dzong “ Dzong Chung” that house a statute of
Duddha. It has said that Shabdrung ordered the architect, Zowe Palep,
to sleep in from of the statue. While Palep was sleeping in front the
statue; the Shadrung took him in his dreams to Zangtopelri and showed
him the palace of Guru Rimpoche. From this vision, the architect
conceived the design for the new Dzong, which in keeping with the
tradition, was never committed to paper. The Dzong was named Druk
Pungthang Dechen Phodrang, “Palace of Great Happiness.” Punakha is
still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo (Chief Abbot” and central monk
body) then drive to Paro over a Dochu-la Pass. Overnight at UMA RESORT
Day 05: Punakha - Paro This
morning will be a very special day, with an excursion to visit the
spectacular Taktsang (Tiger Nest), monastery. After breakfast we take a
short drive to the north of Paro Valley to Ramthankha, from where we
start our hike to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s Nest). The trail
climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of tress festooned with
Spanish moss and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags.
Visitors are permitted to hike up to the viewpoint from where you can
see the monastery hanging on a cliff. We will obtain a special permit
to allow you to visit the monastery. Legend has it that Guru Rimpoche,
founder of Buddhism flew from Eastern Bhutan on a tigress, bringing
Buddhist teachings and meditated here in this cliff. This is one of the
most venerated and sacred of all Buddhist sights around the world. We
can arrange a horse ridding till the cafeteria, if you feel that you
would prefer to have take are horse ride. After visiting the monastery,
we will walk down to Taktsang cafeteria for lunch. Finally on time
availability, we will visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and
most sacred monasteries dating from the introduction of Buddhism in the

Day 06: Depature Drive
to Paro Airport for your onward flight. Thank you for visiting Bhutan
and giving us opportunity to serve you. We wish you a very pleasant
